Dance 1
Ages: 3 - 5 Grades: Pre School
This class is a musical preschool. Many students have not been to a formal school. We start in a circle and sing songs as we warm up and relax. Most of the class is sung. We cover basic ballet terminology and simple movements, moving like animals and such. For tap we concentrate on rhythm. But making noise with the different parts of our feet is great! We end with acrobatics. Here we work on flexibility and the basic movements, as well as the hardest thing, waiting your turn. A song and dance is introduced for both tap and ballet. Class is structured fun.
Tuesdays: 6:00pm Thursdays: 4:00pm Saturdays: 9:00am Thursdays: 9:00am
Dance 2
Ages: 5 - 7 Grades: K - 1st
So much is learned in this class with out any stress. In tap, we start working on the basic steps. Always fun but very structured. With ballet, the correct body position is encouraged while learning simple ballet steps. Acrobatics is becoming more advanced. Always challenging the individual but never pushing. Self esteem is the most important. In both tap and ballet, a song and dance is introduced. We are really becoming dancers now.
Wednesdays: 6:00pm Saturdays: 10:00am Thursdays: 5:00pm Thursdays: 3:00pm
Dance 3
Ages: 7 - 9 Grades: 2nd - 3rd
This class dances from the very get go. Tap uses more and more steps and ballet is going thru an actual simplified ballet class. Correct form and proper names for the steps and movements is worked on. We no longer have time for acrobatics, but always time for self esteem. We also have a song and dance for each subject.
Tuesdays: 5:00pm Saturdays: 11:00am
Dance 4
Ages: 9 - 11 Grades: 4th - 5th
In dance four we change from ballet to jazz. We still do tap. Terminology and body placement improve and steps increase in complexity. A dance for each subject is introduced but it may not have a song. Self esteem is still a really big item to work on, especially at this age. This class will really move.
Wednesdays: 4:00pm
Ballet
Ages: 10 - 14 Grades: 4th - 8th
These are classical ballet classes. They follow the same format as the junior ballet class but remain formal for the dances. Many more steps will be covered, challenging the young body without harming it.
Jazz
Ages: 10 - 14 Grades: 4th - 8th
Here we move and groove to popular music. Still watching technique but moving and gyrating as only teens can. Yes the body is watched so no harm is done to it. We use proper form and placement but our dancers do not even realize it. They are having so much fun. Most people do not realize how many styles of jazz there are. We will explore these through all the dances we will learn from blues thru showbiz to hip hop.
